Your Opportunity

You will be working in the National WHS team which is part of our People and Culture (P&C) team. The P&C team provides guidance and support on all aspects of employment at Mission Australia to ensure all employees enjoy a supportive, harmonious workplace environment.

The WHS team are a team of dedicated professionals that support managers, leaders and their workforces through the provision of subject matter advice and guidance, driving effective risk management processes and advocating the use of the Mission Australia WHS system.

You will have an opportunity to use your strong communication and collaboration skills across all levels within the organisation to positively influence culture change and make our workplaces safer for all.

Reporting to the National Manager, Work Health Safety and Wellbeing, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Support the business through continuous improvement of safety performance
  • identify and support the implementation of practical solutions for the business and coach/ influence managers and leaders positively in this aspect
  • Interpret and practically apply WHS legislation, codes of practice and industry standards
  • Communicate any changes in best practice and legislation to internal stakeholders
  • Develop and facilitate WHS training and education programs on safety practices
  • Present WHS information, data and statistics to monthly state area manager meetings
  • Connect with and support site based HSR’s within your areas/ states
  • Review online incident reporting and work with sites to ensure they meet standards
  • Action health and safety audits and inspections, identify potential hazards/ risks

 

Requirements for Success

  • Relevant qualification/s in WHS (Diploma WHS minimum)as well as extensive experience in a similar role
  • Experience developing Work Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Experience in Root cause analysis, audits and writing related reports
  • Demonstrated experience in developing presentations and training programs
  • Proven ability to engage and work collaboratively, and influence key stakeholders
  • Current driver’s license and evidence of COVID-19 vaccination

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks.
