Your Opportunity

Great opportunity to join the Mission Australia Pilbara team as an AOD Case Manager based in Newman or Tom Price working within the Pilbara Community Alcohol and Drug Service.

As an AOD Case Manager, you will provide case management, ongoing assessment and treatment for people who are seeking support with alcohol and other drug addictions, as well as offering support to their families and significant others. You will work will coordinate care with critical human services agencies and mental health services. Based in Newman or Tom Price, you will be a part of a larger team in the Pilbara connected to our other sites including South Hedland and Karratha.

To be successful in this role, you must have strong experience in AOD case management and counselling. You will have an understanding of culturally diverse communities, and indigenous groups that reside within the Pilbara.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide case management and counselling for people with alcohol and other drug addictions
  • Refer clients to appropriate services providing a coordinated approach to AOD treatment
  • Building strong and long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders, such as the local community, and various government and non-government organisations
  • Manage your client base and submit accurate case notes and reports on schedule
  • Working in conjunction with the Department of Justice (Adult Corrections and Youth Justice) in regards to the court-mandated program and management plans.
  • Attend regularly Magistrates Court to provide assessment and information on Diversionary programs and other Mission Australia services

 

Requirements for Success

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Certificate IV in AOD Case Management, equivalent qualifications or relevant experience
  • Experience working with vulnerable and diverse clients in the community sector
  • Ability to update case management notes and perform the necessary administration and report writing
  • Current Drivers license and safe driving skills to travel on isolated dirt roads
  • Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
