Your Opportunity

Synergy Auto Repairs is a social enterprise smash repair workshop based in North Melbourne. Synergy was established in 2014 by Mission Australia, in partnership with Suncorp and the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council. Synergy offers a full suite of smash repair services, while providing on-the-job training and work experience for marginalised youth; notably young people who have had trouble with the law. Synergy provides on-the-job training, work experience and support to young people.

As the Student Support Officer at Synergy Auto Repairs, you will work on a 12 months fixed term contract and play a vital role in assisting in all aspects of training and employment for the organisation.  This includes efficient coordination, delivery and assessment of students and employees undertaking relevant training programs with Synergy Auto Repairs. You will also engage in placement and post placement support of students.

Duties

  • Case Support – identify, respond & develop individual case needs to assist each student
  • Case Administration – create individual case management for each student including accurately tracking referrals, letters, evidenced training & overall student progress
  • Program Delivery – implement student recruitment strategies & assist the Program Manager, to identify young people who meet the selection criteria for placement
  • Trainee/Apprentice Monitoring & Support – ensure student internal & external training & work experiences are recorded, updated & in line with Mission Australia protocols

Requirements for Success

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent knowledge/experience in community services industry
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Well-developed negotiation & time management skills to achieve projected outcomes
  • Proven ability to build strong effective & sustainable business relationships
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Highly developed communication and time management skills
  • A strong alignment to Mission Australia's purpose and values

As part of our Employment screening process you will be required to undertake a National criminal history check. Positions requiring WWCC: In addition, there is a requirement to possess a current Working with Children check or apply if you do not already hold one.
