Your Opportunity:

Our youth based program located in Surry Hills offers young people currently experiencing diversity and aged  between 16-25 the opportunity to develop their skills in creative arts , achieve a Cert 2 TAFE qualification and be supported towards healing and independence.

Sounds of the Street currently need a experienced part time music tutor to deliver a program, help our students achieve a qualification in Music and take part in the recording of the annual CD.

Working 21 hours one week and 14 hours the next, you will be employed on a permanent part time basis and daily make a difference in the lives of our students. Previous students can show how the program has helped them develop creative skills and also address their mental wellbeing needs.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Student Support
    • Develop and implement a program of lessons to support the musical development of students. 
    • Ensure the that the daily operation of the program offers students opportunity and assistance in line with their individual needs and preferences
    • Work with individual students to assist them in developing musical goals or projects and monitor and encourage students in the achievement of these
  • Program Support
    • Maintain ongoing communication with TAFE NSW in order to ensure course content is in line with accreditation standards
    • Maintain musical development notes for all students participating in the program.
    • Work in conjunction with the team to prepare for the annual CD Launch.
    • Maintain stock, equipment for the Program,

Requirements for Success:

  • Qualifications in music or vocational training experience and/or Certificate IV in training and assessment 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Technical Expertise
  • Empathy and Supportive teaching ability

As part of our Employment screening process you will be required to undertake a National criminal history check.  In addition there is a requirement to possess a current Working with Children check or apply if you do not already hold one.
