Your Opportunity

Junaa Buwa! Centre for Youth Wellbeing is an intensive residential rehabilitation program staffed 24 hours a day in Coffs Harbour, offering a stable and secure environment where young people can make positive changes in a supportive safe environment. 

We are looking for an experienced Residential Youth Worker who is available for evening/weekend shifts. (Please find the Position Description attached below)

Your key responsibilities will to:

  • Induct clients into the service.
  • Whenever possible, develop a therapeutic alliance with the young people, ensuring adherence to boundaries and consistency of care practice.
  • Work collectively with team members in using effective care practices and recognised techniques to manage young people who exhibit challenging behaviour.
  • Consistently act in accordance with the young person’s Support Plan ensuring appropriate recording and handover of incidents.
  • Monitor clients as directed during shift.

Requirements for Success

  • An appropriate certificate relevant to the field of work or alternatively obtained previous experience in a relevant industry, or
  • A relevant diploma but does not yet have experience.
  • Demonstrated professional approach to the role including maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake basic functional day to day support of clients.

As part of our Employment screening process you will be required to undertake a National Criminal History Check .

In addition there is a requirement to possess a current Working with Children check or apply if you do not already hold one. It is unlawful for prohibited persons to apply for work with children, and, as such, prohibited persons cannot apply for this role.
