About the role

Youthbeat is a Mission Australia safety and early intervention program supporting youth on the streets of the Perth CBD. This comprehensive program provides mobile outreach to young people in the Northbridge and inner city areas, as well as comprehensive case management support.

The service provides safety, information and guidance for young people at risk and connects them with local community services, family and peers. The Youth at Risk Case Manager supports young people and their families to overcome issues or challenges, often related to trauma, and ensure the appropriation of adequate support services.

Duties 

  • Respond to referrals of clients to the service from internal and external services and conduct formal assessments in an outreach environment (home visits, schools etc.) of suitability for the program.
  • Ensure that information is gained from and shared with other workers in regard to the circumstances and needs of clients.
  • Provide brief intervention and comprehensive case management to a case load of young people aged 12-18.
  • Assist in the general supervision of clients throughout the service to ensure appropriate support, safety and adherence to regulations.

Qualification and Experience

  • Possess a relevant qualification in the area of youth and/or community service.
  • Demonstrated Case Management experience.
  • Experience and ability to work with youth at risk including knowledge of child and adolescent development.
  • Experience and ability to work with families including knowledge of family systems.
  • Awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural issues.
  • Working with Children Check, Police Clearance, and ‘C’ class driver’s license, computer literate in Microsoft Office and current First Aid certificate.
  • Demonstrated assessment, counselling and crisis intervention skills, including for people at risk of self-harm and suicidal behaviour and families in crisis.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and work independently.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including report writing and statistical collection.
  • A readiness to work within the Mission Australia Values Statement.

As part of our Employment screening process you will be required to undertake a National Criminal History Check.
