About the role

The Youth Accommodation and Support Service (YASS) provides support, assistance and accommodation for young people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The service provides support to vulnerable young people by connecting them to school, work, vocational training and other support services whilst assisting them to obtain long term housing.

The role of the Residential Youth Worker will be to work within a Trauma Informed Care framework  to provide holistic support to young people living on site in crisis and transitional accommodation through the provision of onsite care and support.

To be successful in this role, you MUST have experience working within the Youth Sector in a similar role as well as experience in working in youth residential settings. This role will involve shift work and you need 24x7 rotating shift availability, including nights shift. (Please find Position Description below).


  • Support young people to work towards their individual treatment goals by providing practical onsite support and gudieance;
  • Work within a Trauma Informed Care framework as well as the WA Youth Work Code of Ethics;
  • Respond to and manage crisis situations;
  • Provide educational groups to vulnerable young [people on a range of topics relevant to them; and
  • Provide general daily program support.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Prior relevant experience and sound understanding of issues facing youth and homelessness
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people with high and complex needs
  • Relevant Youth Work qualification
  • Demonstrated compliance with the Code of Ethics for Youth Workers in WA
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Be computer literate in Microsoft programs
  • Be willing to work as part of a roster which includes some nights and weekends
