Local Area Coordinator – Clovelly Park

  • Part Time 35 hours’ week, Fixed Term Position until 30 June 2019

The NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will work to support people with disability to participate in and contribute to improving social and economic life, as well as provide certainty that people with disability will receive the care and support they need over their lifetime. The NDIS provides a number of ways to assist people with disability to exercise choice, including taking reasonable risks in the pursuit of their goals and the planning and delivery of their supports. Your Opportunity

Your role as a Local Area Coordinator will allow you to provide support and partner with Australia’s living with disabilities, their families and carers to build and pursue their goals for a good quality life, exercise choice and control and engage with the Scheme. The role will require you to make comprehensive assessments based on interactions and implement actions as identified in the individual’s plans, while building new community networks and access to mainstream services.

  • Create trusting rapport and educate NDIS participants, families and carers about the scheme and how to utilize funds attached to their approved plans.
  • Build and maintain strong external and internal relationships and local connections, including forming a strong partnership with the NDIA.
  • Effectively and accurately information gather and document participant records within mandated timeframes and KPI’s.

Position Requirements

  • Tertiary Qualifications and/or experience in community services and disability services.
  • Proven experience in practicing a positive, contemporary attitude to people with disability, applying a strength-based and person- centred approach to service delivery.
  • Judgement and decision making ability in relation to accountability of funds and interactions with individuals and communities.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills and the ability to write accurate, thorough and comprehensive reports.
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to navigate databases
  • Excellent organisational, time management skills, and the ability to be self-directed
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment by sharing information, supporting colleagues and respecting different skills.
  • Valid SA Driver’s Licence to work independently and be mobile within the community
  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal Communities and CALD backgrounds and applicants with lived experience are highly encouraged to apply.

As part of our Employment screening process you will be required to undertake a National Criminal History Check.
